Three trees were blown down (one of them uprooted) and 2 power poles knocked over near Peru Mill at the northwest edge of Deming. Low level moisture had retreated further east resulting in a dry microburst from a high based thunderstorm.
A local storm spotter measured a 60 mph thunderstorm wind gust and reported brief heavy rainfall from a severe thunderstorm. Earlier Luna County Dispatch reported a tree down in nearby Deming as a result of a lightning strike.
