The Rahway River at Springfield exceeded its flood stage of 5.5 ft. at 0500 EST, crested at 6.16 ft. at 0700 EST and fell below bankfull at 0930 EST. Total reported rainfall amounts in Union County ranged from 2.85 inches in Elizabeth to 2.89 inches in Roselle Park.
The Rahway River at Springfield exceeded its flood stage of 5.5 ft. at 7 pm local time. The river crested at 7.29 ft. at 9:45 pm and fell below flood stage on 9/7/08 at 3:15 am. The Elizabeth River at Ursino Lake exceeded its flood stage of 20.0 ft. at 7:30 pm local time. The river crested at 20.73 ft. at 8:45 pm and fell below flood stage at 11 pm.
The Rahway River at Springfield exceeded its flood stage of 5.5 feet at 2:15 pm EST, crested at 8.65 ft. at 10:00 pm EST and fell back within its banks at 10:45 am EST on May 1.
