A carnival tent pole was blown down along Lenox Avenue, and a tree limb fell onto power lines along Hilltop Court in Pompton Lakes. The tree and pole were brought down due to a combination of heavy rain and strong gusty winds.
A squall line moving across the region produced an enormous amount of damage during the afternoon hours. Powerful winds, the result of several microbursts, downed thousands of trees and power lines. Numerous structures received various degrees of damage. A significant amount of this damage occurred to the roofs.
