Hail up to nickel size fell from southwest Madison into Madison for about 10 minutes with a few stones eventually reaching quarter-size at 3 pm CDT. The hail fell from thunderstorms that were occurring with temperatures below freezing, thus they were accompanied by freezing rain and sleet.
Hail up to nickel size fell from southwest Madison into Madison for about 10 minutes with a few stones eventually reaching quarter-size at 3 pm CDT. The hail fell from thunderstorms that were occurring with temperatures below freezing, thus they were accompanied by freezing rain and sleet.
Hail, most of it estimated to be half dollar size or smaller, caused areas of crop damage southwest of Battle Creek. The hail was from the same supercell thunderstorm that produced a tornado near or a little south of the region. Time of damage was estimated by radar.
