An apparent thunderstorm microburst destroyed a dairy barn near Bow Valley. Four dairy cattle were killed when the barn roof fell on them. The storm took a door off a machine shed and destroyed 6 calf huts also. The farm house, which was only 150 feet away from the barn, was not damaged.
Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at least 60 mph caused extensive damage in south Yankton. Numerous tree limbs and power lines were downed by the storm. There was also structural damage to Riverside Auto Body. Here the roof was removed, and a number of storage units were destroyed. Damage was scattered for a half block downstream from the site.
Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at over 60 mph flipped several center irrigation pivots and snapped some highline power poles in the Coleridge area according to the Coleridge Blade newspaper. Time was estimated from radar.
