Numerous reports were received of 0.75 to 1-inch-diameter hail from the public and weather spotters. Hail up to three inches in diameter fell over other sections of western St. Louis County damaging hundreds of cars and windows. The worst damage was near Chesterfield Mall where parked cars were dented severely or had broken windows. Hail stones of two to three inches fell for an estimated 10 minutes causing nearly a million dollars in damage.
Widespread large hail fell in St. Louis County, with the largest hailstones measuring 1.75 to 2 inches. The largest stones were reported in Chesterfield and later in Ferguson. Severe hail was also reported in Wildwood, Maryland Heights, Woodson Terrace, Bridgeton, Hazelwood, Florissant, Dellwood, and Jennings. Extensive, widespread damage to cars was reported with this event.
Hail up to baseball size fell over portions of south St. Louis county. At two dealerships on Tesson Ferry Road over 200 new cars were hit by the hail. The hail shattered sunroofs and back windshields on several cars and caused a lot of dents.
