Thunderstorm winds estimated at up to 80 mph tore across northwest Pettis County. A railroad crossing arm was snapped 1 mile north of LaMonte. Two miles east of Houstonia, a hog barn was destroyed, and a trailer home and a 2-story house sustained extensive damage.
Thunderstorm wind gusts of 80 mph damaged property and trees in rural Pettis County. One homeowner reported that the glass had been blown out of a storm door, and outbuildings sustained minor damage. A second homeowner reported extensive shingle damage to his roof, and many uprooted or damaged trees on his property. Also, a hay feeder ring was found hundreds of yards from its original position, apparently carried by the thunderstorm winds.
The County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported a measured wind gust of 60 to 70 mph in the city of Sedalia. Some damage was reported. The Sedalia Police Department reported trees and telephone poles blown down north of the city along with a boat and trailer blown across the road.
