Severe thunderstorm winds gusted to 80 MPH in Skidmore. There were numerous reports of downed power lines, large trees blown over and roof damages to houses. Many of the large trees and limbs blocked roadways in Skidmore and fell on top of houses and cars. The entire population of Skidmore lost electrical power as a result of the storm. St Joseph Power and Light also reported power losses in Quitman and Graham.
Two seperate thunderstorms produced an estimated $10 million in damage to nearly 45,000 acres after large hail fell. The first swath of hail was about 5 miles wide from Burlington Junction to Grahm. The second swath was about a mile wide and 15 miles long. The storm also downed trees and power lines throughout parts of the county. A roof was torn off a nursing home in Maryville with other buildings damaged in Arkoe.
North facing windows of Bendictine Sister Convent were blown out. Numerous trees were uprooted and limbs blown down. Siding from buildings was removed, and an attic hatch was blown off. Thunderstorm wind gusts were estimated up to 100 mph.
