What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
The MetLife blimp that broke from its mast in Kansas City, came to a rest on private property. The blimp accompanied a squall line nearly 60 miles before crashing. The blimp was severely damaged and there was minor damage to a truck on the ground.
Strong winds knocked down large tree limbs in Chillicothe. A few power lines were downed by the limbs, and a tree fell into a house, creating a large hole. Street flooding also occurred with 1.18 inches of rain in just 25 minutes.
On a survey of a large tornado a manufactured home was seen outside of the tornado path slide off its blocks. This damage was consistent with the location and behavior of strong RFD winds south of the track of the tornado off to the northeast.
