A 16 year old female driver drowned, when she drove her SUV into several feet of running water, at NE 144th and Rocky Hollow Road, where William Creek crosses the road. This was around one mile west northwest of Excelsior Springs.
Very heavy rain from thunderstorms resulted in several reports of flash flooding in Clay County. In Gladstone, several evacuations of people trapped in cars were required at 60th and Shoul Rd. In Liberty, 3 cars were submerged and one person was trapped but successfully rescued. The intersection of Route 152 and Flintlock was under water and impassable.
The town of Mosby received between 3 and 4 inches of rain over a short period of time, which resulted in the city being evacuated. While there were certainly damage associated with the rising and running water, these damage totals are unknown.
