A significant flash flooding event occurred due to the training of strong thunderstorms across the county for much of the day. Damage reports from the flooding included: major damage to 15 public roads and to one bridge. Minor flooding damage occurred to 30 houses, 10 mobile homes, 20 public roads, and one bridge.
Heavy rainfall, between 2 and 4 inches, caused flash flooding across parts of Philadelphia. A few motorists and vehicles were stranded and a few roads were closed. The flooding rains also caused a couple homes to flood in town.
Flash flooding occurred in Neshoba county along a corridor near Mississippi Highway 21 from near County Roads 614 and 569, southwest into the city of Philadelphia. High water was observed on the northeast side of Philadelphia near the Highway 21 and County Road 555. Within Philadelphia, flash flooding resulted in water flowing across Mississippi Highway 16 and Front Street.
