Between 5:00 and 6:30 PM, nearly 3 to 5 inches of rain fell over the Columbus area. This intense amount of rain resulted in widespread flash flooding across the Columbus area. Many roads and area streets were under water. This high water resulted in a few dozen homes and several businesses flooded with several feet of water entering homes and buildings.
Significant flash flooding was reported. Many roads and streets around Columbus were flooded or closed. A shopping center had water in all of its stores. Evacuations had occurred across the center. Several roads in the county were closed due to flash flooding.
Multiple clusters of thunderstorms and heavy rains caused several roads in Columbus and across the county to have water covering them. On some roads the asphalt was broken due to water. Rainfall totals between 5 and 8 inches of rain fell during this prolonged rain event.
