Winds were estimated at 95 mph at the Olive Branch AWOS. Major damage occurred to airport hangars. Doors were blown out of two hangars while another one had the side panel blown out. One employee was injured when the wind slammed a hangar door into his hand. Two planes were overturned and damaged. In total, eight planes sustained damage. Minor damage occurred to buildings surrounding the airport.
A 75 mph wind gust was reported along U.S. highway 51 near Horn Lake. The winds caused damage to several houses, apartments and buildings across the county. A radio tower was pulled from its concrete footing in Horn Lake. Twenty-one planes were damaged at the Olive Branch airport. Numerous trees were blown down as well.
Several homes,businesses and cars were destroyed in the Southaven area and numerous other homes and businesses were damaged across the county. Eleven of the schools in the county were damaged. Numerous trees, power poles and power lines were blown down across the county. More than 20,000 homes lost power for up to two days.
