Heavy rain produced widespread flash flooding across Alcorn County. Numerous roads were flooded or washed out as a result. One fatality occurred when the vehicle lost control and went into a ditch off of Shiloh Road near Shiloh Ridge Golf Course. The vehicle became fully submerged and the driver drowned as a result. Numerous additional water rescues were made as a result of the flooding. Portions of Highway 72 in Downtown Corinth were flooded. Flood waters went into at least 40 businesses including K-Mart and Kroger. At least 8 homes were destroyed from flood waters. In addition, seventy homes sustained major damage with two receiving minor damage. An apartment complex containing 40 units also sustained major flood damage.
The tornado touched down just NE of the Alcorn County Road Maintenance Facility on County Road 306. Here, the tornado snapped and uprooted several trees behind residences along the road. One home here did sustain moderate damage due to a tree falling on it, but this was the only structural damage noted along County Road 306. The tornado continued through a wooded area approaching Hwy 72, crossing just west of the Glen Town Hall. The Glendale Elementary School sustained minor damage to the roof (less than 20%) and several trees were uprooted here. The tornado weakened after this point and sporadic tree damage was noted throughout a wooded area to the northeast between County Road 248 and County Road 260 before crossing into Tishomingo. Peak winds were estimated to be around 90 mph.
The tornado damage was EF0/EF1 in Alcorn County with numerous trees knocked down. A home received moderate damage to mainly the roof while several manufactured homes were damaged. Several outbuildings and sheds were also damaged. Peak winds in Alcorn County were near 100 mph. Most of the path was in rural areas in Alcorn county. The tornado crossed into Tishomingo County.
