Hail up to golf ball size pummeled crops in northeast Nobles county. Damage can be seen from satellite data. Crop damage is an estimate from insured losses. Information provided by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Large hail severely damaged soybean crops. Corn crops were also damaged, although less yield loss was expected due to the maturity of the corn. The hail covered the ground in many areas, with some drifts up to a foot remaining 10 hours after the end of the storm. The amount of crop damage could not be determined until after harvest. In addition to the crop damage, the hail also damaged vehicles, and the siding and windows on at least one home.
Thunderstorm winds of unknown speed caused widespread tree damage, blew down a 50 thousand bushel steel grain bin, destroyed a barn and a hog building, and blew over two tractor-semitrailers. The winds also caused undetermined crop damage.
