Bristol County, Massachusetts

Several small streams rose above flood stage in Bristol County, including the Wading River at Norton, the Mill River at Taunton, and the Segregansett River at Dighton.||Collections at the Attleboro Arts Museum were damaged by flood waters. River Bank Road in Attleboro and Franklin Avenue in North Attleboro were flooded by the Ten Mile River. Several other roads in Attleboro and Norton were flooded. Several basements in North Attleboro were flooded. Portions of Route 44 and Dean Streets on the Taunton/Raynham line were closed for several days after becoming flooded with several feet of water. Several other streets in Taunton were closed due to flooding. The Wilson Road causeway in Fall River also was closed. ||In Freetown, three families were evacuated after Long Pond overflowed its banks, threatening the homes. Two homes in Taunton were evacuated.

Four to six inches of rain fell across Fall River, three of which fell in 45 minutes. Numerous roads and intersections were flooded, stranding many cars. There were 6 high water rescues, that occurred on Davol and Pearce Streets. Water was up to car windshields on Pearce Street. Four feet of water flooded the intersection of Lindsey and Ballard Streets. Forty to sixty cars became stuck in high water on Eastern Avenue near the rotary with President Avenue. Airport Road was closed due to flooding. A daycare center was evacuated because water began entering the building. More than 50 houses experienced flooding up to or on the first floor. The basement of Kimwell Nursing Home on New Boston Road was flooded. The emergency room at St. Anne's Hospital was flooded. A massive sinkhole opened up on Crescent Street, taking the cab of one of Fall River's new trash trucks with it. The North End Senior Center was flooded and closed for several days to repair flood damage. A newspaper account cited approximately $100,000 to the Sagamore Mill.

Numerous streets were flooded including: Coggeshall and Dean Streets, Cove Road, West Rodney French Boulevard, and Brownell and Hawthorne Avenues in New Bedford. These roads were closed to traffic and emergency vehicles were rerouted around these streets to reach their destinations. At least one car was stuck in floodwaters with its occupants rescued. A fire truck got stuck in floodwaters on Route 18. Numerous basements were flooded. St. Luke's water temporarily stopped accepting patients due to flooding in the basement and cafeteria of the hospital, as well as around the hospital. In Dartmouth, significant flooding occurred on Russells Mills and Old Westport Roads. These roads were closed to traffic. Multiple cars were stuck in flood waters on Route 6E, which also ended up being closed.
