Several houses experienced thunderstorm wind damage in Meraux, primarily along Judy Drive. Damage was mainly to roofing material removed. A few windows were blown out, a door was blown in, and fencing blown down. A few large tree limbs were also snapped.
A National Weather Service team has surveyed the damage and concluded that it was caused by a microburst. Wind speeds were estimated at 70 to 80 mph. Widespread small limb damage was noted as well as a few medium to large size trees downed. Damage was confined to an area bounded by Patricia St. to the north…Alexander St. to the west…Rowley St. to the east and St. Bernard Highway to the south.
