Twenty light aircraft were damaged by thunderstorm wind gusts at Lakefront Airport. Wind damage to trees and roofs was reported throughout the New Orleans area from the Uptown and Garden District neighborhoods through the lakefront area and into east New Orleans. Several houses and businesses were heavily damaged by wind gusts in the Garden District. Property damage estimated.
Strong straight-line winds caused damage in the 7th Ward of New Orleans along Claiborne Avenue from Esplanade to Orleans. Four structures were totally or partially collapsed. Power lines were downed and some homes received damage to siding.
A steel girder stick frame camp with vinyl siding and metal roof on a 15 foot pier was struck by thunderstorm wind gusts. Nearly the entire structure was blown to the east with roofing material and furniture blown 30 to 50 yards down wind. Two portions of siding were blown across Chef Menteur Highway about 10 yards east of the roadway. Two additional camp structures across the highway also had minor damage.
