A 48 year old man drowned in a rain swollen drainage ditch along Gibbs Street while trying to retrieve a trash can, after he was swept away by the rapid moving flood waters. His body was later found about 50-60 yards downstream.
Numerous roads were flooded throughout Desoto Parish. These included Twin Oaks Road, Bluntmill Road, Missile Base Road near Prairie Lane, Stonewall Frierson Road near Edgewood Lane, Long Road near Highway 5, Bethel Road at Thomas Road, Red Bluff Road at Case Lane, Highway 3015 and Highway 175, Church Road at Stanley Road, Stonewall Preston Road at Candy Lane, Linwood Avenue north of Clayton Road, Cody Drive, English Road, Jesse Latin Road, and near Cash Butler Road.
Heavy rain led to numerous flooding problems. Highways and secondary roads were closed included Hwy 175 and I-49 connecting the Kingston and Frierson communities. Several cars were stalled as the drove into high water.
