What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
Numerous reports of trees and powerlines were felled. School buses were trapped on the highways during the storm when the roads were blocked from fallen trees. There were two injuries when a tree fell across a pickup truck on La Hwy 151. The men were transported to a local hospital and only one appeared to have serious injuries. Damage to several homes and mobile homes were also reported.
The Ringgold Assembly of God Church had its roof lifted by straight line winds. As the roof came back down, it crushed the un-reinforced cinderblock walls near the front of the structure, which then partially collapsed. Portions of the roof structure also pelted the home across the street, with one two-by-four piercing the swimming pool slide in the backyard. All debris was found immediately down-wind of the church. A home about a half mile west of the church lost some shingles, and several trees were uprooted.
Several homes and two barns were damaged. Several other homes had their roofs removed including one in which heavy support beans and concrete anchors were tossed 100 feet away. Two horses in a stable suffered minor injuries. Numerous trees were toppled across town.
