Thunderstorm winds damaged about 15 businesses including ripping the roof off one building and blowing out glass windows. Thirty houses were damaged including a home also had its roof removed and its carport demolished. Approximately 50 trees were knocked down.
Delayed public report of straight line wind damage along norwood road, near John West Road in Ascension Parish. Atleast 3 large trees uprooted onto power lines. Trees oriented west to east in direction of path of storm. Likely damaging winds.
Broadcast media relayed photos of tree limbs down near Port Vincent. One Building had metal roofing peeled back near the intersection of Louisiana Highways 42 and 431 at the Amite River. Utility company reported 8000 customers without power in Ascension Parish. Event time was estimated by radar.
