Trees were blown down throughout the county. Several trees were snapped or uprooted and power lines were downed along Hwy 114 and in Rough and Tough Branch in and near the community of Dotson. A billboard was also severely damaged due to the winds. The local VFD reported several transformer fires due to the downed trees and power lines.
Significant damage was observed at the Floyd County Board of Education in the community of Eastern, where wind penetrated steel doors of the gymnasium next to the main building, before escaping through the NW portion of the gymnasium roof, blowing out a substantial section.
Numerous trees and power lines were blown down at the Jenny Wiley State Park. Part of one tree fell on a building. Several boats were blown loose from the dock on Dewey Lake. One tree was blown down on a vehicle near Dewey Lake.
