Large hail and gusty winds caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to vehicles in an RV park south of Goodland. Several windows and mirrors were broken. Most roof vents, many air conditioner shrouds and refrigerator vents and some plumbing vents were destroyed. Hail penetrated vents and screens and came into some of the campers. Some awnings were shredded and one tent reportedly had holes punched through the roof.
Trained spotter reported hail up to 2 inches in diameter with a passing thunderstorm. They also reported pea to dime size hail covering the ground, in addition to minor property damage with broken windows and a car due to the hail.
Delayed report received from off-duty NWS employee. Time is radar estimated. Dime to half dollar sized hail was observed on the road after storm passed. Road was covered in hail from roughly Sherman County Road 30 to 34.
