Widespread damage occurred early Thursday morning across Minneapolis including: large tree trunks uprooted, tree trunks snapped, snapped power poles, a roof torn off a church, and window screens blown off the courthouse. After analysis of radar data, first-hand accounts and pictures, we conclude that straight-line winds of 95 mph produced this damage.
Multiple reports of wind damage in Ottawa County near the state lake. Windows blown out of a house near the intersection of N 180th Rd. and Limestone Rd. Three trees reported uprooted at the Ottawa County state lake. Three trees also reported down at the intersection of Kiowa Rd. and N 180th Rd. Barn reported mostly destroyed with pieces blown half a mile away at the intersection of Kiowa Rd. and N. 190th Rd.
The first report from this storm as it entered Ottawa county was received at 1010 am CST from law enforcement officers. The strongest part of the storm passed to the south of Ottawa County; however; the northern extent of the bow echo feature moved through the southern half of the county. Aside from trees being reported down across the southern part of the County, namely in Tescott, damage was mostly negligible. The county reported no cost in damages from the storm as it moved through.
