Severe thunderstorm winds gusted to 70 MPH throughout Leavenworth County. County Emergency Management reported 15 to 20 inch diameter trees down in Basehor. Also in Basehor, a 60 foot tree fell on two homes and a car. Numerous power lines were reported down as were numerous power outages.
A severe thunderstorm over Leavenworth County produced a 60 MPH wind gust 4 miles west of Linwood. Tree limbs, 3 inches in diameter, were knocked down. In Linwood, a 75 MPH winds gust damaged the roof and blew over a semi-truck at a Kansas Turnpike service plaza.
A severe thunderstorm moved across east-central Leavenworth County between 2335 CST and 1230 CST. Quarter-size hail was reported in the city of Leavenworth and three miles southwest of Lansing. In the city of Leavenworth, 65 mph winds were measured.
