What the reports say
Written by National Weather Service staff at the time of the event · public domain
The roof was blown off a hangar at Eureka Airport per social media photo. At the time of the incident, the Eureka (K13K) AWOS measured a 46-knot gust, but it is unknown whether or not this was the peak gust. Considering the magnitude of the damage, it's doubtful that it was. The time of the event was estimated from the METAR observation. An event that occurred 3 miles NNE Eureka measured a 60-knot gust. Therefore, the gust for this event is estimated at 61 knots (70 mph).
Multiple outbuildings were found damaged at a farm. This included an entire two story barn with collapsed walls. There was a trailer that had been moved and pushed. A large tree's trunk was snapped, but it looked like it was compromised. All of the debris was strewn primarily to the east. A former residence had minimal damage with the outbuildings just to the west of it.
