Many reports of large hail were received from the St Francis area. The emergency manager saved hail stones in his freezer which measured 3.5 inches in diameter the following day. Car windshields were broken and some windows in houses were also broken.
An embedded supercell thunderstorm produced quarter sized hail in the city of St. Francis for a duration of five minutes. Multiple reports were received for hail in the city from the public and the Cheyenne County Emergency Manager.
Hail began at 1715 CST and continued for approximately 30 minutes. Coop observer reported hail to the size of quarters. A storm chaser nearby reported golf ball hail at around 1748 CST. Hail piled up to a depth of 4 inches. The observer also recorded 2.72 inches of rainfall.
