Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at around 70 mph blew over a semi on Highway 141 and also blew a grain bin across the highway southwest of Mapleton. The winds also downed trees and power lines in the Mapleton area and caused scattered building damage.
Thunderstorm wind gusts around 60 mph knocked a large tree down blocking a road in Onawa. The winds also blew down power lines trapping a traveler on a highway near town for a while until electrical crews could move the lines.
The second supercell in less than an hour passed through northern Monona county producing wind damage around Rodney. This time winds were estimated at over 70 mph as several trees were downed. The trees knocked down three power poles, and also caused damage to a few homes.
