A major tornado and severe thunderstorm outbreak occurred on this day. Numerous tornado touch downs were reported across eastern Iowa and northwest and west-central Illinois. No injuries or fatalities occurred. Total damage estimates across southeast and east-central Iowa were in excess of $5 million.
