Public reported water over the road at Miller Creek Road between Laporte City and Washburn. Additionally downstream near Vinton there was an ice jam on the Cedar River. This was causing water to backup in Waterloo and Cedar Falls and causing some flooding. Another ice jam in the Cottage Row area of Cedar Falls was causing flooding and impacting homes. Many roads across the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area had been closed.
Black Hawk Creek at Hudson crested 3 times during the flood period. The first and highest crest was 18.02 feet on 15 March 2019 at 08:45 UTC, the second crest was 16.03 feet on 16 March 2019 at 00:00 UTC, and the third crest was 15.13 feet on 17 March 2019 at 20:30 UTC.
Black Hawk County EM reported the following roads closed due to flooding: Eastman Rd between Cotter Rd and Foulk Rd, Cotter Rd between Miller Creek Rd and Ripple Rd, and Miller Creek Rd between Highway 218 and Cotter Rd.
