Thunderstorms produced 5.00 to 8.00 of rainfall in northern Logan County during the evening hours. Flash flooding rapidly developed, which made many streets impassable in San Jose, Hartsburg and Atlanta. The biggest impacts were near the Logan/Tazewell County line where the water was three to four feet deep. A section of Canadian National Railroad tracks near U.S. Highway 136 and Emden were washed out. At least two water rescues had to be made for stranded motorists on roads near the county line. No injuries were reported.
Rainfall amounts of 2.00 to 3.00, on top of waterlogged ground, were reported during the evening of June 28th. This resulted in the flooding of several rural roads from Lincoln through Hartsburg to San Jose. Part of a road two miles southeast of Lincoln washed out due to extreme rainfall during much of the month of June.
Thunderstorms merged and continued to redevelop across the county for most of the evening. Widespread flooding of roads, underpasses, viaducts and ditches was reported in Lincoln, Mt. Pulaski and Broadwell. Radar estimates and surface reports indicated that 4 to 6 inches of rain fell in a few hours. Lots of basement flooding was observed with around 40 homes affected. No injuries were reported.
