A second round of large hail associated with another supercell lasted approximately three to four minutes, causing more damage to vinyl siding and screens. The large hail swath extended from several miles southwest of Dix across the Dix area.
The third of three hailstorms in this local area produced hailstones up to quarter size. All three events occurred within an hour. Multiple reports of this hail were obtained by the Severe Hazards Analysis and Verification Experiment (SHAVE).
Large hail to the size of golf balls occurred west of Mount Vernon along Interstate 64. The golf-ball hail was reported at mile marker 70, about one mile east of the Woodlawn exit. Quarter-size hail fell in the Mount Vernon area.
