Several reports of half-dollar to golf ball-sized hail were received from the public in the northern part of Walker county near Chickamauga. Penny-sized hail was reported from the southern part of the county near LaFayette. Radar data supports that hail of similar size likely fell in a large swath from northwest to southeast across the county from High Point to Villanow.
The public observed penny-sized hail near LaFayette. WSR-88D radar data suggests that hail of this size, most likely larger, affected areas near and just east of Lafayette to just north of Naomi. However, there were no reports of any hail larger than pennies.
The Walker County Emergency Management Director reported penny-sized hail from north of La Fayette to La Fayette. The public reported penny-sized hail in Rossville. Other reports of pea-sized hail were received from the northern part of the county.
