A deputy with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office observed penny, possibly larger-sized hail around Forsyth. Radar data suggests that penny-sized was probably the largest hail size with this thunderstorm, although nickel-sized hail was reported.
The public observed penny-sized hail northwest of Juliette. The public also reported that several large tree limbs were down in the area. The county 911 center reported that one tree was down on U.S. Highway 41 about two miles west of Forsyth.
The Monroe County Emergency Management Director reported quarter-sized hail near Forsyth. WSR-88D radar data suggests that hail of quarter size likely began falling as the thunderstorm entered the western portion of the county near Collier then likely decreased to penny-size as the thunderstorm weakened and moved just north of Forsyth.
