The Stone Mountain Public Safety Office reported that a thunderstorm downburst caused extensive damage to trees, campers, and vehicles in part of the Stone Mountain Park. More than 50 trees were blown down. A number of the downed trees fell on campers and vehicles in the area, some of which were destroyed when the large trees fell on the property.
WSB Television of Atlanta reported that a number of trees were down across DeKalb county. Two very large oak trees fell through the second story of a home on Mountain Oaks Parkway in Stone Mountain causing major damage to the structure. The second floor of the home was virtually completely destroyed.
The DeKalb County Emergency Manager reported several trees blown down from North Druid Hills to Clarkston. Trees were blown down on cars and houses on Verona Drive and Tanner Drive and a large tree fell on a home on Coralwood Drive. No injuries were reported.
