Several social media reports of dime sized hail near Southshore Blvd and Big Blue Trace in Wellington from a strong thunderstorm that moved through the area. A trained spottered also reported trees where bending very good, but no branches broke off from winds of 50 to 55 mph associated with the storms.
Numerous reports were received from trained spotters, broadcast media, and social media of large hail falling over a 20-minute period across southeastern Palm Beach County. Most reports were at least quarter sized, with several reports of ping pong and golf ball sized hail. The largest hail was reported as slightly larger than golf balls along US 1 in Hypoluxo. Hail reports were received from Boynton Beach, Hypoluxo, and Ocean Ridge, and Delray Beach. One spotter near Boynton Beach also reported estimated wind gusts up to 50 mph, breaking large limbs off tree branches.
Several reports received from the public and social media of dime to nickel sized hail falling across the West Boca Raton area over a period of 15 to 20 minutes. The largest hail observed was at the Southwinds Golf Course where hail up to quarter size was estimated.
