Hwy. 371…32…76…278…and numerous other county roads were under water and closed due to flooding. Nevada County was one of 20 counties across the state that were declared disaster areas from rainfall up to the 13th, 14th and 15th of October. In addition to the state declaration, Nevada County qualified for federal assistance as the county was deemed a Federal Disaster Area from the flash flooding and storm damage that ensued during the month of October.
Local Coordinator reported that Hwy. 299 between Laneburg and Emmett, Hwy 371 between Prescott and Blevins, and numerous county roads are closed due to flooding. There have been several traffic accidents due to these conditions. Due to the infrastructure problems throughout the county, Nevada County will receive Federal assistance.
Highway 371 just west of Prescott was underwater. The force of the swift currents resulted in the culvert under the roadway just east of Black Creek to give way as a vehicle tried to cross. The vehicle was swept off the road and had to be pulled from the water. No injuries were reported.
