A supercell thunderstorm moved across southern Tuscaloosa County causing considerable damage. The storm dropped hail from pea to baseball size. The hail fell across the southern areas of Tuscaloosa, Fosters, Ralph, Taylorville, and Duncanville. In the city of Tuscaloosa, one business, 22 apartment buildings, and 122 homes were damaged from the large hail. Across the southern parts of the county, numerous trees and power lines were blown down and many areas were temporarily without power. No injuries were reported.
A swath of hail, ranging from the size of nickels up to the size of golf balls, was reported from the Fosters community northeastward into the southwestern portions of the city of Tuscaloosa. Several vehicles were damaged by golf ball sized hail at the intersection of US-11 and Gainsville Road, just east of Fosters.
Dime to golf ball size fell across a large part of Tuscaloosa County. The hail was associated with a left member of a splitting thunderstorm. Some of the cities that reported hail include the Romulus community, Coker, Northport, Tuscaloosa, Holt, the Alberta City community, and Lake Tuscaloosa.
