From WHNT News Article: Madison County Coroner has identified a man who drowned Sunday afternoon in the New Hope area. Coroner Bobby Berryhill said Gary Sloman, 53, of New Hope, died around 2 p.m. Berryhill said Sloman had left his truck near the flooding to go check on a friend and got caught in the rushing water. Investigator Jeremy Hughes with the Madison County Sheriff���s Office said Sunday they received a call about a body found in flood waters. Deputies responded to CC Ivey Road around 4 p.m. Berryhill said the death was accidental, there were no signs of foul play.
Runoff from heavy rainfall caused Aldridge Creek and the Flint River near Brownsboro to climb to or above flood stage. This produced flooding in eastern/southern portions of Huntsville. At one time, up to 4 feet of water was reported over Hobbs Road and water was also entered the basement of a residence along Hickory Hill Road in southeastern portions of Huntsville.
Moderate to heavy rainfall atop already saturated soils produced renewed flooding on small creeks and streams in central Madison County in and around the Hampton Cove community. Little Cove, Cherry Tree, and Bailey Cove Roads experienced flooding. Little Cove Road was impassible during much of this period.
