Twenty homes were damaged by what was believed to be thunderstorm winds in the Fackler and Stevenson area. Isolated damage was also reported in other parts of Jackson County including Scottsboro with numerous trees down throughout the county. Damage included shingles off, porches and awnings ripped from buildings, and a mobile home was moved off its foundation.
Damaging straight-line winds resulted in numerous trees snapped and uprooted along County Road 67 (South Sauty Rd) just southwest of Langston in Jackson County. An entire camp site near South Sauty was hit, with at least seven RVs destroyed. Based on radar, winds were estimated between 70-80 MPH.
Amateur radio storm spotters reported considerable damage to two convenience stores in Goose Pond, about four miles south of Scottsboro on State Highway 79. Trees were also reported down and across State Highway 40 and 418 at Pleasant View. Five mobile homes suffered some type of damage including one where the damage was described as major. A car was blown over on its side at a used car lot.
