Over two inches of rain in a 30-45 minute period produced flash flooding at the intersection of Mount Hester Road, Highway 72 and Forrest Drive and at residences on 8th Street. Water over-spilled drainage culverts and flooded a few businesses.
Several roads and homes were flooded along US 43 near Littleville. One of the homes suffered significant damage to furniture and appliances. A few other roads in the county were temporarily impassable due to high water.
Widespread flash flooding closed several roads across central Colbert County between Cherokee and Tuscumbia. Some roads closed in and around Cherokee included: Moody Lane, several locations along old Lee Highway, and 6th Street. Some of this flooding was so severe that a senior citizen center in Cherokee and a home along Old Lee highway was flooded. Flooding extended as far east as the intersection of Baker Lane and Highway 72.
