During the afternoon and early evening hours of the 26th, severe thunderstorms developed south of Wichita Falls, then moved east along the Red River Valley. Although there were numerous reports of large hail and high winds, the storms produced at least 19 tornadoes, from Montague County eastward along the Red River to Red River County. Most of the tornadoes were brief touchdowns with minor damage.
