What the reports say

Heavy rain led to many road closures in the area as cars and even motor homes were swept off the highways and county roads. Many farmers lost hay and some cattle were reported missing. The Texas Department of Transportation called in Flood Crews to repair washed-out roads. Rain totals exceeded 12 inches causing area businesses, homes and apartment complexes to be evacuated. The American Red Cross had to be called in to open shelters for flood victims.
The USGS Gauge on Bayou La Nana in Nacogdoches recorded a 14.3 foot rise and crested at 19.65 feet at 10 am, May 11th. This resulted in catastrophic flooding across the city of Central and Southern Nacogdoches, including the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.
Heavy rainfall resulted in several street closures across the city of Nacogdoches including Raguet Street near Blount…Austin Street east of Lanana Creek…Austin Street at Pecan and Powers Street at the Banita Creek Bridge.
