Law enforcement reported significant flooding of streets and roads in west and southwest Lubbock – many of which had swiftly flowing water of a foot or more over them. Several playa lakes overflowed their banks and inundated homes, vehicles, and businesses. No injuries were reported, however some motorists required rescuing from water depths as great as five feet deep. Some streets and roads were closed for 18 hours due to standing water.
Several inches of rain across mainly the south part of Lubbock caused some of the worst flooding in recent memory. Over $500,000 in damages occurred to flooded cars at one car dealership alone, while dozens of other vehicles were flooded and stranded. Most of the city's playa lakes were flooded, as were dozens of homes near the lakes and numerous city streets. Also, FM1585 and Highway 82 were flooded.
There was flash flooding over portions of the city of Lubbock due to rainfall between one and four inches over a period of about one hour. Several high water rescues were performed and many motorists became stuck in water over the roadways. Several roads were also closed due to high water. A parking lot of a restaurant flooded out several vehicles.
