Residents of Kerrville reported a dark green color to the clouds as the thunderstorm approached. The storm produced a small tornado that was very short-lived. No significant damage was attributed to the tornado. However, gusts from the thunderstorm estimated at over 70 mph blew over numerous trees and damaged roofs. The worst damage occurred in the east part of Kerrville, near Shreiner College. Over 20 large trees were felled at the school, with another 30 severely damaged. The metal roof of the library was peeled back. Wind-blown debris broke windows and damaged walls of the library. The storm also blew down several power lines, knocking out power to near 12,000 homes. Six of the 7 public utility substations were damaged by the storm. Hail damage was generally confined to roofs and windows of homes and windows of automobiles.
