About 15 to 20 roads were flooded. A 15' by 20' sinkhole developed, and a bridge was washed out on Cedar Oaks Drive in Payne Springs stranding about 30 households. FM 2636 in Malakoff, Bunny Rabbit Road in Athens, and FM 773 north of Murchison were closed due to high water. A bridge was washed out on CR 2803.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 175 were closed near Athens due to flooding. 8-15 inches of rain had already fallen across the county and as the rain continued during the day, county roads started to flood and several were closed due to high water.
Emergency management reported that several roads sustained flood damage to bridges and culverts, or had areas of the roadway washed away, including County Roads 3715, 1500, 1507, 3822, 3918, 1113 near the city of Athens, and FM 316 near the city of Athens.
