Downburst and straight-line winds caused considerable damage along a line from south of Fairfield in Freestone County to Buffalo in Leon County. Notable, consistent tree damage was observed along Interstate 45 with large trees uprooted and at least one electrical tower partially bent. Along SH 164 west of Buffalo but just inside the Freestone County line, four electrical tower trusses were collapsed. Additional information about the damage in Buffalo is explained in the Leon County entry.
Large trees fell on at least two porches, causing significant damage. A mobile home was blown across a street. Glass was blown out of a storefront on Highway 84. A large oak tree fell onto a mobile home, and a barn was also destroyed. Numerous trees and power lines were also knocked down throughout town.
A few large trees were split in the city of Fairfield by high winds. One tree on Cotton Street was partially leaning against a house. In addition, the underpinnings of a manufactured home on Old Palestine Road were damaged.
