A severe thunderstorm produced very strong winds and caused damage across the city of Crane. There were numerous reports of roof damage, carport damage, broken windows, and tree damage. An electric meter was knocked off a house and a water line was broken by a falling tree.
Severe thunderstorm winds downed at least four utility poles along Farm to Market Road 1601 north of Texas Highway 329 in east-central Crane County. Damaging winds spread east toward Crane, where several large trees were blown down.
Downburst winds took the roof off a shed and blew other debris on the north side of Fort Stockton. Wind was estimated at near 60 mph by sheriff's office personnel. About a half hour later strong winds estimated at 60 mph by the Crane PD blew at the Pecos River along the Pecos/Crane County line. Quarter-size hail was reported just north of the State Highway 329/FM 1233 intersection.
