A supercell thunderstorm entered western Hamlin county and tracked southeast producing quarter to baseball size hail along with damaging winds in excess of 70 mph. The large hail and strong winds caused extensive damage to homes, outbuildings, vehicles, and especially crops. Thousands of acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat were damaged or destroyed across Hamlin county. Also, many trees and gardens were damaged by the hail and high winds.
