Thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds moved across central, eastern and southern South Carolina during the afternoon and evening causing considerable but mostly minor damage. Fallen trees closed Lightwood Knot Road in southern Lee County, trees and large limbs blown down in Clarendon, Lee and Orangeburg Counties.
The Allendale county Emergency Manager reported a tree down along 6th Street behind the IGA Super Market, another tree down near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Aiken Avenue, and both trees and power lines down near the intersection of Highway 278 and Aiken Avenue in Fairfax, South Carolina.
Strong thunderstorm winds uprooted or snapped off a few trees and broke off large tree limbs in several locations from 1 mile south of Allendale to 1.5 miles northeast of Sycamore. The damage 1.5 miles northeast of Sycamore occurred around 1912 EST.
